Turning the Page

Across the past 23 years, Turning the Page has developed a system that uniquely engages the District of Columbia families as educators. Families have access to rich resources that maximize their involvement in their children's learning. Learn more about us at turningthepage.org.

What We Do:
MOBILE MEETINGS
Mobile meetings provide families with one-on-one support as they navigate their children's transition back to in-person learning and generally support families with strategies and practices that can support their children's success.

WORKSHOPS
New virtual family workshops are designed specifically to address the learning loss that may be occurring due to the pandemic and remote learning; providing families with concrete steps they can take to support learning in the home, collaborate with their children's teachers, and identify supplemental community resources.

BUILDING HOME LIBRARIES
Turning the Page provides families access to high-quality books in the home for their families to enjoy together.

DIGITAL HUB
The Digital Hub is a centralized location for information and resources for everyone involved with Turning the Page. Hosted on Edmodo, families, teachers, and community partners can access and share learning resources for educating children at home and in the community via the Edmodo app or website.

AUTHOR VISITS
Since 2001, more than 75 authors and illustrators have visited 150 Community Nights! Visiting authors read one of their stories to families and answer student questions in a virtual or in-person setting. Some of our recent authors have included Daniel Handler (AKA Lemony Snicket) and Dr. Christine Platt.

SUMMER LEARNING
Learning shouldn't stop just because school is out! During the summer months, Turning the Page partners with local museums and cultural institutions to host a series of innovative Saturday and evening virtual and in-person field trips.
