HOME LANGUAGE SURVEY:  Home Language Survey

The Home Language Survey must be completed by all families enrolling their child in a District of Columbia school for the first time. The responses are used to determine if the student is eligible to take an English language proficiency screener. Students who are identified as English learners based on the screener have the right to participate in the English language instructional program at school.
